Introduction to Pubradio
Pubradio is a free service provided for public radio personnel throughout the country. Pubradio was established in 1991 by Public Radio Leaders at Boise State Radio as a CREN (BITNET) interest group. For those of you who are unfamiliar with interest or listserve groups, here's a brief explanation.
The list exists around a single email address- pubradio@lists.pubradio.org.
When you send email to that address it is sent off to hundreds of your Public Radio colleagues. They can then respond or just read. You will also see messages from other people as well. You can respond or just read. Many questions can find many answers. Also, other system wide messages may be disseminated. In this way a full discussion group is formed.
We have taken several precautions in order to keep this discussion private. Most interest groups can be joined by any interested party. This group will only be for Public Radio Employees and therefore will not include listeners who have complaints, etc. But remember, the group may be private to Public Radio colleagues but you are still sending to over 600 people!
If you feel that an issue needs dialogue, by all means, use the discussion group. Any who wish to reply may do so. Those who do not wish to participate can watch and learn.
You may also sign-off Pubradio yourself by sending a message to this address: pubradio-off@lists.pubradio.org
Just remember that once you sign off, you cannot sign yourself back on.
Finally, one important word of warning . . . use the REPLY key on your computer system ONLY if you want your reply CIRCULATED TO THE ENTIRE PUBRADIO MEMBERSHIP (OVER 600 OF US). If you would like your response to be more private, reply to the senders' e-mail address directly using the FOREWORD button in your emailer.
